{"id":1298,"date":"2025-06-23T06:39:15","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T06:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/?p=1298"},"modified":"2025-07-22T12:25:04","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T12:25:04","slug":"breve-historia-fiestas-del-raval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/breve-historia-fiestas-del-raval\/","title":{"rendered":"HISTORIA FIESTAS DEL RAVAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>\u00c1lvaro Garc\u00eda<\/b><\/p>\n<hr>\nSe piensa que desde el a\u00f1o 1526 cuando el <b>Obispo Bernardo de Andujar<\/b> bendijo la antigua Mezquita como Templo Cat\u00f3lico y en 1609 se expuls\u00f3 a los <b>Moriscos del Raval,<\/b> se han celebrado en el barrio fiestas en honor a <b>San Juan Bautista.<\/b><p><\/p>\n<p>Durante los siglos XVII y XVIII el marco para las mismas fue siempre la <b>Plaza Mayor del Raval<\/b> organizando torneos, espect\u00e1culos musicales, mercadillos y la procesi\u00f3n del Santo.<br>\nEn el siglo XIX comenzaron las primeras juntas vecinales para su organizaci\u00f3n, recaudando fondos para las verbenas nocturnas con orquesta, las cuca\u00f1as, el porrate, los gigantes y cabezudos con dulzaina y tamboril y lo que nunca faltaba, una vaquilla y como siempre, la procesi\u00f3n religiosa por las calles del Barrio, esto termin\u00f3 con la Guerra Civil y el periodo de posguerra.<\/p>\n<p>En los a\u00f1os 60 y tras el luto por el hundimiento de la <b>Plaza del Raval,<\/b> el despegue econ\u00f3mico y la inauguraci\u00f3n del nuevo templo, resurgen con fuerza las fiestas, se utilizaba el llamado \u201cJard\u00edn Parroquial\u201d situado al final de la calle <b>Abad\u00eda,<\/b> donde se pasaban veladas de Cine gratuito al aire libre, carreras de Plateros, de Cintas, de Sacos, Cuca\u00f1as y la tradicional procesi\u00f3n, acabando con los fuegos artificiales.<br>\nComienza la tradici\u00f3n de las decoraciones tem\u00e1ticas de las calles y en 1967 se funda oficialmente la <b>Comisi\u00f3n de Fiestas del Arrabal de San Juan<\/b> siendo su primer presidente don <b>Augusto Hern\u00e1ndez C\u00e1novas<\/b>, en 1971 crean la sede en calle <b>San Juan,<\/b> 41 y en 1984 se traslad\u00f3 a la calle <b>Fossar<\/b>.
