{"id":198,"date":"2024-06-21T09:46:01","date_gmt":"2024-06-21T09:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/?p=198"},"modified":"2024-07-11T16:25:57","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T16:25:57","slug":"breve-historia-del-raval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/breve-historia-del-raval\/","title":{"rendered":"BREVE HISTORIA DEL RAVAL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Tras la conquista de Elche por Jaume I (Siglo XIII) la poblaci\u00f3n musulma ilicitana fue trasladada a lo que hoy es el barrio del Raval de Sant Joan, nombre que tom\u00f3 cuando en 1526 fueron bautizados los moros de Elche y su mezquita bendecida bajo la advocaci\u00f3n de San Juan Bautista. All\u00ed permanecieron hasta que en 1609 fueron expulsados y sus propiedades repartidas entre la gente pobre de la Vila Murada que repobl\u00f3 el barrio.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:post-content -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><p>En el a\u00f1o 1655 el barrio del Raval contaba con su propio Ayuntamiento (situado en la plaza Mayor donde ahora se encuentra el Museo de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo). As\u00ed fue hasta que en 1827 se suprime el Ayuntamiento y el Raval pasa a ser un barrio m\u00e1s de Elche.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces el barrio estaba limitado por las calles \u00c1ngel, Filet de Fora, Mareded\u00e9u de l\u2019Assumpci\u00f3, bajando por la calle Estrella hasta el l\u00edmite oeste que corresponde al r\u00edo Vinalop\u00f3.<\/p><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Ya en los a\u00f1os 20 del pasado siglo se comienza a edificar la parte sur del barrio en lo que antes era el huerto de la Tripa, de ah\u00ed el nombre por el que se conoc\u00eda esta zona. A mitad del siglo XX tambi\u00e9n se abrir\u00e1n nuevas calles que conectar\u00e1n el Raval con la Vila como la de Juan Ram\u00f3n Jim\u00e9nez (1957) que llega hasta la plaza Mayor.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:image {\"id\":211,\"sizeSlug\":\"full\",\"linkDestination\":\"none\"} -->\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"590\" height=\"430\" src=\"https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_20240621_100701-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_20240621_100701-1.jpg 590w, https:\/\/raval.es\/historia\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/IMG_20240621_100701-1-300x219.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/figure>\n<!-- \/wp:image -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p><p>El Raval tradicionalmente ha estado habitado por gente humilde y trabajadora siendo uno de los barrios m\u00e1s caracter\u00edsticos de la ciudad. Anta\u00f1o muchas de sus casas ten\u00edan palmeras dentro del patio como posible reminiscencia por haber sido anteriormente huertos. Con el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y urban\u00edstico de la ciudad, en los a\u00f1os 60 y 70, muchos de sus residentes se trasladaron a otras zonas de nueva creaci\u00f3n siendo reemplazados por inmigrantes procedentes del sur y centro de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>En los 80 el barrio se encontraba en una situaci\u00f3n de abandono y degradaci\u00f3n urban\u00edstica y su poblaci\u00f3n estaba muy envejecida. El Ayuntamiento empieza a intervenir con la construcci\u00f3n de edificios de protecci\u00f3n oficial, creaci\u00f3n de dotaciones y espacios p\u00fablicos. La mayor parte de las edificaciones tradicionales han sido sustituidas y la trama urbana ha cambiado la imagen hist\u00f3rica pero el barrio ha recuperado vitalidad y es apreciado por mantener un ambiente tranquilo y residencial en pleno centro de la ciudad.<\/p><\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Hay una canci\u00f3n popular que menciona una zona del Raval, la Teulera, desaparecida en la d\u00e9cada de 1980 que se situaba en la rambla del r\u00edo.
